L’Or du Son • September 2026

Dear Friends,
Welcome to the September edition of L’Or du Son, our selection of reviews, releases and conversations from the analog world.
Two pieces of news from Le Son.
In August, Jerry Seigel of 10 Audio published the first review of the LS10 MKII “G” and gave it his maximum rating, 10 LPs, together with the site’s Perfect 10 Award. He listened over the summer on an Acoustic Signature Montana Neo, alongside cartridges costing four to nearly ten times its price.
“The Le Son LS10 MKII ‘G’ moving coil phonograph cartridge will not be the weak link in your stereo system.”
Jerry Seigel, 10 Audio, August 2026
He also confirms something we say quietly: at 0.1 mV and 1.6 ohms, the “G” is a natural partner for a current-input phono stage, and on a conventional stage it asks for at least 70 dB of quiet gain. If you are unsure whether yours qualifies, write to us before choosing. Read the review at 10 Audio.
The new Arc Protractor Generator announced in July is now live. It is free and runs in any browser. Choose your tonearm from 180 verified presets or enter the pivot-to-spindle distance yourself, pick one of four geometries and a groove-radius standard, and download the arc template as a vector PDF for A4 or US Letter. Two check distances on the template let you verify the print with a ruler, and if your printer scales the page, the next download corrects itself. A second PDF plots tracking error and distortion for your arm. If your arm is not in the list, tell us and we will verify it.
The other tools announced in July, the resonance calculator, the step-up transformer and loading calculators and the strobe disc, are finished and will follow.
A word of thanks to the readers who visited the Audio Access room at the Hong Kong High-End Audio Visual Show in August, where our cartridges were presented. The atelier has been back at full pace since the end of August.
This issue also gathers the best of the pieces we set aside over the summer. We hope you enjoy the read.
