Denon DL-103360 $ · upgradeUpgraded classic MCThe original Le Son, still the only one built around Dr. Tsai’s ECC generator: 6N copper coils, boron nitride cantilever, Shibata V stylus.
The LS10 wound in 5N OCC silver, with a 0.5 mV output that suits most MC phono stages: boron rod cantilever, nude line-contact stylus.
Our lightest generator, for phono chains with the low-noise gain a 0.1 mV cartridge requires: gold-plated 5N OCC copper on a non-magnetic core.
The moving-coil principle, through the MM phono input you already own: 6N copper coils, boron nitride cantilever, line-contact stylus.
The Upgraded Denon DL-103 preserves the generous musical spirit of the original while refining the mechanical interface through a boron nitride cantilever and hyper-elliptical stylus. It is best suited to heavier tonearms and listeners drawn to the weight, density and soul of the DL-103 tradition.
A practical view of the cartridge range, showing each model’s output, phono-stage context, core specification and ideal system direction.
